Acid Etch
Broken panel was carefully reassembled like a jigsaw puzzle and each piece was numbered. Then the pieces were shipped from Hawaii to DGP. The broken panel is on the left and the new panel is on the right, in the process of having the acid applied.

Decorative Glass Processes owner, Patrick Mackle, began working with glass products back in the early 1970's. He started by doing restaurant glass. Then he added signage to his product line, followed by many other products.

Over the years, Pat has developed and fine-tuned a variety of etching techniques that have produced top-of-the-line products, including the antique method of acid etching.

Pat has used acid etching for a variety of products and processes, including for restoration purposes. See the page on the famous Iolani Palace in Hawaii that contracted with Pat to restore the glass (originally created in England and San Francisco around 1880) in two glass paneled entry doors that were severely damaged by vandalism.

We are in the process of working on this page and will be providing more information regarding acid etching soon.
